駅弁の雄「峠の佂めし」、販売累計は1億 5000 万個
横川駅の歩みとともに、１２８年の歴史を誇る老舗駅弁事業者。４代目髙見澤みねじ社長の考案で、昭和33年に誕生した「峠の佂めし」は、陶器の容器を用いた個性と味へのこだわりで当初から大きな話題になる。さらにみねじ社長をモデルにしたテレビドラマ「佂めし夫婦」が放映され、日本を代表する駅弁としてその地位を固めていく。
一方で早くからロードサイドの可能性に着目し、昭和37年から国道沿いのドライブインの開設、高速道路のサービスエリアへの進出など、駅弁に依存しない経営スタイルを実現。新幹線が開通し、駅の利用者が激減しても業績を堅持する。昨年４月に志和氏が新社長に就任。美味しさと安全を第一義に置きつつも、ブランド力を活かした新商品開発や地域の観光活性にも注力していく。
